Malas Entertainment Celebrates Edward Said: Between Worlds at TIFF

Malas Entertainment was proud to co-sponsor a special evening celebrating the premiere of Edward Said: Between Worlds at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Directed by Maiken Baird, the documentary explores the life, ideas, and enduring legacy of Palestinian-American professor, author, and public intellectual Edward Said, whose work continues to resonate across generations and borders.

The premiere and after-party brought together filmmakers, artists, partners, and members of the community for an evening centered on film, culture, identity, history, and the power of ideas.

For Malas Entertainment, supporting the celebration reflects our commitment to championing meaningful storytelling and filmmakers with distinctive perspectives. Stories rooted in specific cultures and experiences have the ability to reach far beyond their origins, creating connection, encouraging conversation, and introducing audiences to perspectives they may not otherwise encounter.

Celebrating Storytelling and Community

Film has a unique ability to carry ideas, histories, and experiences across generations and borders. Edward Said: Between Worlds offered an opportunity to gather around that power while recognizing the enduring cultural and intellectual legacy of Edward Said.

We were grateful to celebrate the premiere alongside M Film Lab and Muslim House, and to welcome the filmmakers, partners, and community members who joined us for the evening.

The premiere after-party, proudly co-sponsored by Malas Entertainment, created a space for guests to connect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the people behind the film. These moments of connection are an important part of building a creative community in which distinctive stories and perspectives can be supported and seen.

A special thank you to Muslim House for being part of the evening and to the incredible team at Halo and Co. for bringing the celebration together so beautifully.

Congratulations to Maiken Baird and the entire team behind Edward Said: Between Worlds on the film’s Toronto International Film Festival premiere.

Malas Entertainment is proud to have supported an evening celebrating an important film, the people who brought it to the screen, and the lasting cultural and intellectual legacy of Edward Said.
